About Us

The mission of Charitable Union is to collect community donations of clothing, bedding and household items and to distribute those goods free of charge to Battle Creek area children and families in need.

History

Since 1887, the Charitable Union has cared for those in need throughout the Battle Creek and surrounding areas. An enduring community resource, we have provided children, families and individuals clothing and household items to help them address temporary challenges in their lives. These items are provided at no cost to those seeking the services.

Charitable Union was formed when a group of churchwomen identified a need in the community. Determined to help, they collected gently used clothing, cleaned and refurbished them, and distributed the clothing to the needy families of the day. That same mission lives on. In 2007, with the help of a small staff and over 500 volunteers, Charitable Union distributed 450,000 articles of clothing, bedding and household items to families in need in our community.
