Founded in 1887, Charitable Union is a non-profit organization that helps provide clothes and bedding to children, families and veterans. Donations from local residents make it possible for us to help more than 11,000 people in Battle Creek and throughout Calhoun County every year.

A few things set us apart from other outstanding places such as Goodwill and The Salvation Army in Battle Creek. For one, we provide clothes, bedding and household items for free to those in need. We also help people prepare for independence and self-sufficiency so they don’t need us anymore—this allows us to continually help new people who need our services.

We’re extremely thankful for each and every one of our donors and volunteers because we wouldn’t exist without their help and generosity. Please consider making a tax-deductible financial donation or donating clothing, baby supplies or household items today.

Silent Auction at Applebee's

Don't miss this one! Applebee's on Beckley Rd in Battle Creek is remodeling and auctioning off all the memorabilia on their walls. The proceeds from this auction will be donated to Charitable Union. Making the earth a little greener

Looking for a place to recycle used inkjet cartridges, old cell phones, small electronics? Look no further. Charitable Union is partnering with Planet Green to help keep our landfills clear of electronics and other items. For more information, call Ruth at Charitable Union 269-964-7234. Items for Baby Layettes Needed

We are in need of items to help make up our baby layettes. We need any of the following items: afghans, bibs, bonnets, booties, nightgowns, outerwear, pampers, socks, quilts, receiving blankets, sleepers, baby sweaters, T-shirts, bath towels
washcloths, baby powder, baby bottles, caps, mittens, snowsuits and pacifiers.

Maybe your Church or School would be willing to have a "Baby Shower" for Charitable Union and collect these items. For more information call Rhonda at 964-7234.

Another great story...Lynette's daughter is going to Disney with the LHS choir. She and her daughter have been saving for a year so that they could afford the trip. Yesterday, Lynette realized that her daughter had outgrown every pair of her shorts. She was not sure what to do, since most stores don't have summer clothing in stock at this time. Her husband asked if she had been into Charitable Union. So, Lynette came in today and was able to get summer clothing for her daughter.

It meant so much that she wanted to share her story and give a thank you to our staff. Thanks for sharing your story Lynette! Thank you, donors, for your contribution. Look out Mickey Mouse, here she comes!
